Polishing Frenzy at My Cottage

If you are silver
or
if you are brass,
I will find you!

Once I get started on a big project, I can't stop. I have polished almost everything in my cottage that is in plain sight except for the andirons and they scare me. I want to wait until the weather is mild enough for me to do them outside. My fender looks fabulous and so do the fireplace tools. So happy. xo

Come on over when you're finished there, please.

Proud of you, Rosemary.

I'd bake one of those apple cakes and have a friend over for coffee just so someone else could see my handiwork!

I actually enjoy polishing silver, which reminds me that it still needs to be done. Like you, I have a brass fender and vintage brass andirons that scare me too!

Rosemary,

Any advise about polishing brass? I have a big, old house where almost all fixtures - doorknobs, light switches, etc. - are brass. What product or method do you use? (Love reading your blog!) Thanks!

You have the best "stuff," Rosemary. I just love it when you post pictures of your home.
We like the same stuff, but I'm more into ceramics than you, I think. And our art is not antique. I love yours.
Thank you so much for your blog. I know it takes a lot of time and thought.
Xoxo,
Janie Horn

Looks terrific. Magnificent start to Spring Cleaning. Aren't you glad we don't have to haul our carpets outside and beat them?

I do the same thing. There's nothing like polished silver and brass to make me smile! This has inspired me to get started.

Spring is in the air and it does so inspire one to tidy, polish and clean. I usually wait until after the pollen has fallen because that stuff gets EVERYWHERE. This year I will spring clean by throwing all out possessions into boxes and a big old VAN and move it all of it West. I'm in denial, boo hoo. I know it's the right thing to do but I'm really mourning leaving beautiful Virginia. I've always felt like I was and East Coast girl born who was born in the wrong in the wrong state.

What a yummy cottage vignette. All your treasures look so spiffy and shiny, sweet of you to let them show off for us. Well done Rosemary, give yourself a star.
